Lights at the Basilica

Composition and music curation for a projection-mapped finale on the Basilica of the Immaculate Conception.

Lights at the Basilica closed Cathedral District Jax’s Let There Be Light with projection, music, and sound across the building’s façade. The free outdoor work ran every 15 minutes through Christmas 2020 and returned in 2021.

The Balance King arranged performances from the Jacksonville Symphony, Jacksonville Children’s Chorus, St. John’s Cathedral, and First Presbyterian Church into a continuous score, with original composition by Memory is a Game. One sequence pairs the façade breaking apart and reforming with Olivier Messiaen’s Transports de joie, performed by organist Timothy Tuller.

The full production was made in Jacksonville for Jacksonville.
